Rural Social Movements and Land Rights
This transcontinental research programme was commissioned in late 2002 to provide a comparative perspective on land occupation movements across continents (Latin America, Asia and Africa ). It arises out of the conflicts and shift in property relations brought about by land occupations in many parts of the global south, leading to serious confrontations at many international forums. Thus, the aim of the research programme is to document the historical process and to provide learning experiences on land reform, land conflicts and property rights contestation, through empirical evidence.
